14A – Halfway Reflection

I think that one of the behaviors that is most
important above all for this course is time management. Making sure that you
give yourself enough time throughout the week to complete assignments and not
holding off until the last minute to do an assignment is crucial to being
successful in this class. What I would do is set aside a few hours in a given
day so I could complete all of my assignments and watch all of the lectures
that I needed to watch. I think time management is also most important especially
if you are a UF online student, it is my first semester and it is easy to get distracted
from course work. Time management is especially important for this course
because some of the assignments take a good chunk of time to complete like the
elevator pitches and the assignments where you have to interview people. You can’t
put these assignments off to the last minute because a lot of time and effort
have to go into completing these assignments.
·
One moment where I felt like giving up was when we had
to do our first elevator pitch. I hate being in front of a camera and I hate
the way my voice sounds on video, and I’m not a big fan of public speaking, so It’s
safe to say I wasn’t enthusiastic about recording my elevator pitch. What pulled
me through is that I wanted to get a good grade in the class. I think I’ve
developed a tenacious attitude over the past two months. I think having to do
the elevator pitch certainly helped with that because I had to put my self out
there more than anything with that assignment.

Three tips
1.
Be proactive and start your assignments as early as
possible
2.
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box
3.
Manage your time wisely

Hi JC,
ReplyDeleteManaging your time wisely is very important in this class because there are many assignments in this class and to make sure that you are on top of it, you need to create a schedule or simply use the calendar app on your canvas to manage your time wisely. I would like to comment on tip #2 by saying that I love how this class is always testing my thinking skills and completing the assignments is a great way to release those neutrons through this course.
Time management seems to be a theme! What really has gotten me over the past few weeks have been the interviews. I really don't enjoy going to people and asking them questions; it's just not in my nature and is way out of my comfort zone. So, I tended to push all the interviews off until Thursday and that really made things tough. But, the last few interview assignments have been getting better and I've intentionally planned interviews earlier in the week.
ReplyDeleteWell done conquering your distaste for public speaking and posting your elevator pitch!
Hey John,
ReplyDeleteI agree that time management is one of the most important things in being successful not only in this class but most other classes. Good time management allows us to get assignments done on time, as well as learn the information correctly. I also felt like giving up when I started my elevator pitch because I hate being on camera and hearing myself speak. I had to overcome this inconvenience and just powered through the assignment just like you did.
