Assignment 14A – Halfway Reflection

Image
Assignment 14A – Halfway Reflection ·          I think that one of the behaviors that is most important above all for this course is time management. Making sure that you give yourself enough time throughout the week to complete assignments and not holding off until the last minute to do an assignment is crucial to being successful in this class. What I would do is set aside a few hours in a given day so I could complete all of my assignments and watch all of the lectures that I needed to watch. I think time management is also most important especially if you are a UF online student, it is my first semester and it is easy to get distracted from course work. Time management is especially important for this course because some of the assignments take a good chunk of time to complete like the elevator pitches and the assignments where you have to interview people. You can’t put these assignments off to the last minute because a lot of time and ef...

Assignment 13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

Assignment 13A – Reading Reflection No. 1 I read “ The Wright Brothers” by David McCullough and here are my thoughts: ●        What surprised you the most?   I think the thing that surprised me the most is how dismissive the united states were about their ideas. The U.S. government never even responded to them about selling their airplane to them and the media was very dismissive of their ideas. They Had to go to Europe to find people to invest in their ideas. ●        What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?   I admired that as entrepreneurs that they never gave up on their ideas. I feel like if I was in a similar situation, I would have given up so easily in the face of adversity and the people in your own country not believing in you. Eventually they found success because they went to France and found people that believed in their vision. ●        What about the entr...

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Assignment 12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1 Choosing a segment:   For this assignment, I chose a segment of parents that have children that are currently in school. All of my interviews were with parents who were concerned that their children had trouble focusing on their schoolwork. One of the parents I interviewed is a single mother of two children. She says that she thinks her oldest son has trouble focusing on his schoolwork and his grades are suffering as a result. Another was a father of one child. He says that his daughter spends too much time on her phone and that she doesn’t consistently get good grades. The third is another mother who has five children. She believes that two of her children have trouble with doing their schoolwork and she suspects it is because of the constant distractions. Interviews: In the interviews I conducted with the three parents there was one thing they had in common: they all had the unmet need of having some way to have their c...

Idea Napkin No. 1

Assignment 11A – Idea Napkin No. 1 1.       Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically, regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life ·          My name is John, I just transferred to UF and I’m a business administration major. Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Assignment 9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2 ·           Who : through my process of conducting these interviews I found out that there are people that fall outside the boundary of my market. These particular persons are people who already get good grades and possess the necessary motivation to complete their schoolwork without any outside distractions. One of the people I interviewed said they had very strict parents, so they would always focus on schoolwork first and they seldom got distracted. A young lady I interviewed said that she couldn’t think about doing anything fun unless she knew she did not have any schoolwork to attend to, so she would do try to get her homework done without any distractions so she could later enjoy her free time.  Another person I interviewed said they didn’t have a problem focusing on studying in high school because he would get in trouble with his parents if he didn’t keep his grades up, he said that he ...

Solving the Problem

Assignment 8A – Solving the Problem ·          My selected opportunity is that some people are too easily distracted nowadays by their phones and social media that they cannot focus on their schoolwork. The product I am proposing is an app that limits phone usage for a certain amount of time while you are studying. You would personally set a timer for how long you wanted to study and for that entire time period your phone will lock you out of all of your social media/ entertainment apps that you frequently use. It will still let you make phone calls just incase you need to make an emergency call, so safety will not be a concern while you are using the application. I was also thinking that maybe we could also find a way to connect the app to canvas so that   you could put in a command for the app to only let you use your phone once you have finished certain assignments that you set out to complete. The app would primarily make money by u...

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Assignment 7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1 ·          Opportunity o    Healthcare in the united states for a tremendous amount of people is becoming less and less affordable. §   The who: Americans in the united states who have healthcare needs §   The what: they are people in the united states who cannot afford healthcare §   The why: high administrative costs and drug costs are just two factors of rising healthcare costs o      Testing the who: Americans aren’t the only one that has this need, some other countries have high healthcare costs, but the united states is one of the few developed countries who have this problem. Not all Americans have this need, but Americans in this country who have healthcare needs and can’t afford the associated costs have this need. In fact, over half of Americans delay or don’t get necessary treatments because they can’t afford the healthcare cost...

Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

6A – Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends ·          Economic trend: Florida consumer confidence holds steady in January o    https://www.tampabay.com/news/business/2020/02/05/florida-consumer-confidence-holds-steady-in-january/# o    I believe that this suggests an opportunity exists because the facts mentioned in the article are good for business prospects. The research done by the University of Florida proves that consumer confidence has remained strong and hasn’t dropped since last month and Florida unemployment is at an all time low. o    The prototypical customers are consumers in Florida because they are optimistic about the economy and their personal financial situation. I think that exploiting this opportunity would not be too difficult because if consumer confidence is up and unemployment is down that would certainly help in brining an opportunity to the market. o  ...
